Around 200 priests, nuns will leave for vatican today

The teams from India will also participate in a thanksgiving mass

Kottayam: Around 200 CMI priests and (CMC) nuns will leave for the Vatican on Wednesday morning to witness the canonization of Blessed Chavara Kuriakose Elias and Sister Euphrasia. They will leave for the Vatican from Nedumbassery airport.

Another team of priests led by Father James Madathikandam, and the family of Maria Rose Jose, a ten-year-old girl whose recovery from a squint eye ball was attributed for the canonization of Fr Chavara Kuriakose Elias, will leave on November 21.

The canonization will be held at St Peter’s Square at 1.30 pm Indian time, on November 23.

Nearly 10,000 Malayalis from various parts of India and outside are expected to witness the canonization. The teams from India will also participate in a thanksgiving mass which will held at St Peter’s Basilica on November 24.

This will be solemnized by Mar George Cardinal Alencherry, Major Archbishop of the Syro Malabar Catholic Church.
