Ganja case accused elusive for 2 years held

A special squad had seized 25 kilograms of ganja in 2012

Kochi: An accused in a ganja seizure case, who was on the run for over two years, was finally arrested by an Excise team from the Aluva railway station premises on Tuesday. He was identified as Sham Lal (34), a resident of Kizhakekkara House, Josegiri Karayil, Rajakad.

A special squad had seized 25 kilograms of ganja in 2012. A further probe had revealed that the consignment was part of the 100 kilograms of ganja being brought from Orissa and supplied to various parts of the state. So far eight accused have been arrested in connection with the case.

“We have got a further break in the case with the arrest. More members who are part of the network will be arrested in the coming days,” said M J Joseph, Ernakulam Assistant Excise Commissioner.
