TRS hits out at Congress over defections issue

Congress leaders termed the defections as a murder of democracy

Hyderabad: On a day populated by Congress’ protests against defections, ruling TRS countered the party saying it was Congress which had always encouraged defections. TRS leaders asked Opposition to introspect and remarked that senior Congress leaders have all been defectors.

Congress leaders termed the defections as a murder of democracy, but the TRS leaders questioned them about where they began their political careers.

Education minister Jagdish Reddy said Congress leaders had all begun their careers in parties other than the Congress and had defected at some point.

“Which party did the Leader of Opposition K. Jana Reddy start his political career? And what about other senior Congress leaders like T. Jeevan Reddy. They also did the same,” Jagadeesh Reddy said. TRS leaders said Opposition MLAs joined them because they liked the policies initiated by the state.
