Larsen and Tourbo may get Rs 300 crore as compensation

L&T officials maintain that the re-alignment route is not known to them

Hyderabad: Official communication regarding the re-alignment of the Metro is yet to come from the Telangana state government, said V.B. Gadgil, the MD of Larsen and Tourbo Metro Rail. Despite a three-hour meeting, L&T officials maintain that the re-alignment route is not known to them.

“We have been asked to stop work on that road, and we have done so,” Mr Gadgil stated. He refused to comment on the pillar works that have already been carried out.

Sources in the government department claim that a compensation plan to the tune of Rs 300 crore will be worked out for L&T. However, it is not known when the money will be paid.

Also, in the present concessionaire agreement, there is no clause for re-negotiations. Mr Gadgil said, “As we come up with new infrastructure projects, where working with governments is required for a long period of time, it is important to have a re-negotiation clause. The present clause of disputes takes too long to resolve. Also the risk factors require to be chalked out, so that there is no heart-burn on both sides.”
