Land deniers not invited to meet N Chandrababu Naidu

CM will meet only those who are already willing to give land

Hyderabad: The proposed meeting between AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the farmers of 29 villages of the capital on Tuesday will not be attended by those opposed to the government’s land pooling proposal.

Farmers of around 11 villages do not want to give their land for construction of the new capital. On being contacted, they said that they had no information about the meeting in Hyderabad. According to them, the proposed meeting of the farmers with Mr Naidu would turn out to be a TD party meeting.

The main purpose of the meeting is for Mr Naidu to explain the advantages and benefits of the land pooling scheme to the farmers.

However, the local TD leaders have selected five farmers from each village, who are willing to give their lands, but not anyone who is opposed to it.

The meeting will be attended by some TD ZPTC, MPTC members and sarpanches along with farmers, who are pro-land pooling.

M. Seshagiri Rao, a farmer of Rayipudi village in Guntur district, said that the farmers of 11 villages were not ready to give up their lands. He added that no one had invited them to attend the meeting at Hyderabad with the CM.

“The meeting will be attended by the TD leaders and those, who are willing to give their lands…what is the use of that meeting? The Chief Minister has to convince the farmers, who are not willing to give their lands,” he said.

Another farmer, Srinivasa Reddy of Nidumarru in Guntur district said that only pro-TD and pro-land pooling farmers had been selected for the meeting and added that no body from his village had been selected.

He questioned the need to convince those farmers, who were already willing to give their land for the construction of the capital.
