The truck driver abandoned his vehicle and fled the spot

Hyderabad: A 42-year-old junior engineer in the Indian Air Force, identified as K. Srinivas Rao, was killed in a road accident in Dundigal on Monday morning. Rao was on his way to the Hakimpet Air Force Station when a speeding truck rammed into his bike near Gandimaisamma crossroads.

He fell on the road and suffered a serious head injury. He succumbed before getting any medical help.

Police said Rao, a native of Visakhapatnam, had been working at the Air Force station as a junior engineer, (civil), for the last seven months.

Rao, who lived in his brother’s house at Jeedimetla, was going to work on his bike at around 9.30 am. “Near Tech Mahindra, a speeding truck rammed into his bike from behind, and he was thrown off.

He suffered a grave injury and before anybody could take him to a hospital, he died,” said sub-inspector Pavan from Dundigal police station.

The truck driver abandoned his vehicle and fled the spot. Police has seized the vehicle and has booked a case against the driver, who is still absconding.
