Grand merger in Bihar likely
Patna: Though the reunification of Janata Pariwar is still in the embryo, politics leaders were busy drawing up plans to give it a shape in Bihar.
Janata Dal (U) strongman Nitish Kumar and RJD supremo Laloo Prasad Yadav who parted ways in 1994 were inching to merge their parties.
One of the ministerss of the Jitan Ram Manjhi Cabinet in Bihar, Ramai Ram, has said that it would be in the interest of the state if these two parties merge into one. This merger will help keep the BJP away from power in the state.
“Instead of an allia-nce, it would be better if two parties merge into one,” said Mr Ram.
Mr Ram, who served as a minister in the earlier RJD government and also the JD (U) after it came to power in Bihar said, “In alliance, there is always a chance of backstabbing but with merger party will become stronger.”
His statement has sent ripples in the state which is preparing to go to Assembly polls in 2015. The BJP has not reacted yet over the issue but it is said to be keeping a close watch on the development.
