To avail unreserved sleeper class journey on Visakha, Konark Express

Visakhapatnam: Passengers who travel by trains during daytime can heave a sigh of relief as the East Coast Railway has introduced the facility of travelling in sleeper coaches on Konark and Visakha express trains though they do not have reservation.

With a view to providing facility to short distance passengers in sleeper class journey, ECoR has taken measures to allow passengers to avail unreserved sleeper class journey on Bhubaneswar-Secunderabad Visakha Express and Bhubaneswar-Mumbai (CSTM) Konark Express initially.

Now, the passengers can get a seat only in the sleeper coaches during daytime travel.

Passengers can now avail this facility in sleeper class coach S-7 in Secunderabad bound Visakha Express for journey between Bhubaneswar and Palasa and coach number S-4 and 5 on Mumbai bound Konark Express for journey between Bhuba-neswar and Brahmapur with immediate effect.

In the return direction, this facility is available for passengers on Visakha Express between Palasa and Bhubaneswar during daytime effective from November 21. The passengers have to book unreserved sleeper class ticket from booking counters to avail the journey in the respective trains.

This facility was there on quota basis prior to the introduction of Passenger Reservation System that facilitates booking tickets across the country for any destination. Passengers can have good facility for travel between Bhubaneswar and Visakhapatnam if the provision is extended to Prasanthi express that reaches to Vizag at 1 pm daily.
