Move to ensure property is safe
The Home Minister also justified the decision to appoint three more DGPs

KOCHI: The government will provide the necessary security to the property of persons to be shifted from vulnerable villages near Mullaperiyar Dam in Idukki district, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala told reporters here on Sunday.
“The primary concern of the government is the safety of the people in view of the rising water level in the dam” he said.
The government has taken all possible steps to avoid any disaster, he added. Chennithala also said that the government is coordinating the functioning of various government departments.
Chennithala declined to make any comment on businessman MK Kuruvila deposing against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy the before the Solar Judicial Commission on Saturday.
“The Commission will take the needful on this issue”, he said. The Home Minister also justified the decision to appoint three more DGPs. The state government has the power to make such appointments, he said, and added that the rules of the central government also permit such appointment.
