CM N Chandrababu Naidu hopeful of Singapore help
Hyderabad: Describing his three-day visit to Singapore as one of the most successful trips, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said AP and Singapore governments have proposed a government-to-government (G2G), department-to-department, company-to-government and company-to-company models for investments and development of infrastructure in housing, power, ports, water, transport network, aviation, tourism and various other sectors.
Giving details of his meeting with Singapore ministers, officials and 200 industrialists, he said he noticed interest in investing in AP. He was in particular interested in working out G2G and PPP models with Singapore for development of ports and transforming AP into a hub for logistics, containers, shipment.
“We can also start inter-state cruise transport and even international cruise transport. People can water-route on a two-or three-month holiday to go to Japan, China and other countries,” he said.
A 2,400-MW power plant at Krishnapatnam and a project to lift water from the Godavari were among the other projects under discussion.
Mr Naidu said he wants to take Singapore’s help in supplying irrigation water to drought-prone areas. He said canals of Polavaram project have already been completed.
Mr Naidu wants to pump Godavari water that is flowing into the sea by using the lift system to the Polavaram canals. From there, water can be supplied to the Krishna basin.
Srisailam water can be diverted to Rayalaseema through the Pothireddypadu regulator, he said.
AP and Singapore are discussing a project for basin-to-basin, canal-to- canal system.
Stating that that Singapore entrepreneurs asked him to allot special economic zones like Sri City for some projects like the Krishnapatnam power plant and others, Mr Naidu said, “Instead of giving them the total project, we want to set up a special purpose vehicle in which the AP government can have a 50-per sent share.”
The Global School Foundation of Singapore will prepare AP’s education policy, said Mr Naidu.
