Kidambi Srikanth, Saina Nehwal clinch China Open titles

Srikanth stunned two-time Olympic champion Lin Dan while Saina beat Akane Yamaguchi

Fuzhou, China: India's K. Srikanth stunned Lin Dan 21-19, 21-17 to clinch the China Open Super Series Premier title in Fuzhou. Srikanth beat home favourite Lin Dan of China to record the biggest win in his career.

The World No. 16 Srikanth’s opponent Marc Zwiebler of Germany, retired midway with the score reading 21-11, 13-7 during the semifinal.

Meanwhile, Saina Nehwal beat Japanese qualifier Akane Yamaguchi in straight sets in the China Open Super Series Premier to win her third title of the year. The Olympic bronze-medallist Saina Nehwal clinched the USD 700,000 China Open Super Series Premier tournament after beating young Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in the summit clash on Sunday.

The World No. 5 Indian prevailed over the 17-year-old Akane 21-12 22-20 in the women's singles finals which lasted 42 minutes at the Haixia Olympic Sport Center.

This is Saina's third title of the year as the Indian had won the Australian Super Series in June, besides clinching the Syed Modi International Grand Prix Gold early in the year.
