Kolkata: A day after surviving an attempted suicide at Presidency Central Jail, suspended Trinamul Congress Rajya Sabha MP Kunal Ghosh reiterated his call for immediate arrest of the real accused in the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam. His demand, however, earned him manhandling by the police while urban development minister Firhad Hakim described his act as a “natok” (drama).
On Saturday, Mr Hakim said, “The CM made a statement about the incident in the House on Friday. I am not aware of what an accused claimed in jail while being lodged there. It is well-known that he is doing natok.” Mr Ghosh was brought for an EEG test to Bangur Institute of Neurology from SSKM Hospital.
With a tube fitted on his nose he came out and stood at the ambulance’s door. A policeman suddenly pulled him by hands but Mr Ghosh protested. Mounting pressure on the CBI) and chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s party he said, “Those who are the real culprits should be arrested without any delay.”
