NIA arrests one more in Assam in connection with Burdwan blast
Nalbari: NIA has arrested one more person from Nalbari district of Assam in connection with the Burdwan blast in West Bengal, police said on Saturday.
A NIA team along with the Assam police arrested Suburuddin Ali, a close relative of Sahanur Alam who is one of the main accused in the Burdwan blast incident during a search operation in his house at Boroliapar village last night.
With this nine persons have been arrested from Assam in connection with the October 2 Burdwan blast that had claimed the lives of two Jamat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh members.
Two of Suburuddin's relatives, Sahabuddin Ali and his wife Rohima Bibi were also picked up but were released on Saturday, the police said.
Sixty books related to jihadi activities, a Koran and a large quantity of medicines were dug out from two places in the house and seized along with Suburuddin's tempo and motorcycle, the police said.
The search was conducted after a confessional statement given by Sahanur's wife Sujana Begum, who was arrested from the ISBT here on November 7 and in connection with case number NIA/RC 03/14 relating to Jihadi activities.
Police said Suburuddin has confessed that Sahanur, who is on the run, and Sujana had stayed in the house for 10 days some time ago.
NIA has announced Rs five lakh reward to anyone who gave information leading to Sahanur's arrest.
The agency sleuths have searched Sahanur's house thrice at Chatala village in Barpeta district of Assam and quizzed his father and brother.
