Farmers seek details before giving up land

Farmers said that goverment without giving details was trying to snatch their land
Guntur: Angry farmers of Mandadam village on Friday questioned agriculture minister P. Pulla Rao to officially make an announcement regarding the area of developed land they would get under the land pooling system before taking their lands.The Cabinet sub-committee conducted a Gram Sabha on Friday in the village in which farmers demanded prior announcement of area of allocation and an increase in compensation to Rs1 lakh per annum from the present Rs25,000.
Farmers Aluri Buchibabu, Y. Prasad and others alleged that the government, without giving any details about the area of land allocation, process of compensation and sanction of commercial land under land pooling, was trying to snatch their land.They feared that if they got developed land in the Kondaveeti Vagu affected areas, it would be of no use to them and announced that they were ready to give their land if the government agreed to their demands.
Responding to the demands, Mr Pulla Rao announced that farmers’ committees would be formed in all villages to express their difficulties to the CM. He said that some farmers from every village would be made part of the committees and an interaction with the CM would be held on November 18 or later.Cabinet sub-committee member and Tadikonda MLA T. Sravankumar admitted to the difficulties the farmers faced while cultivating flood-affected areas and assured that the Cabinet sub-committee was documenting all complaints of the farmers and these would be reported to the CM. He also assured farmers about resolving their issues before collecting their lands.
Rajahmundry MP M. Muralimohan said that he too knew about the difficulties of the farmers and would bring them to the notice of the government. He said that his real name was Rajababu and he had worked in these areas as an employee several years ago and hence had come to meet his people.
Tenali MLA, Mr Alapati Raja and others addressed the meeting. Later the TD team conducted a Gram Sabha at Uddandarayunipalem, which also received mixed reactions from farmers.
