2 mining firms told to shut operation

Hyderabad: Ministry of forest and environment has issued orders to two mining companies of AP and Telangana State to close down their operation after finding violations in the environment impact assessment notification. Dr V.P. Upadhyay, scientist with the environment ministry, in his orders said Tirumala Granites, operating in Veerasettipalli reserve forests of Yadamarri mandal in Chittoor district stated that the mine operated from 2006 to 2012 without obtaining environment clearance. “State government has initiated action against the violence and evidence was provided to MoEF regarding it,” said the ministry.
