Tirthahalli case: FSL report may be delayed due to lack of toxic sample

BENGALURU: While toxicology experts in the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) had earlier this week reportedly confirmed that the 14-year-old-girl from Tirthahalli had allegedly consumed poison, they are unable to verify the poison citing lack of adequate sample of toxic material in the girl’s viscera.

Official sources said the government is keen on getting the truth out in the highly politicised case of the teenaged girl’s death on October 31 in a private hospital in Manipal.

“The girl had vomited more than 40 times before she died, so traces of toxic material are not enough for detailed forensic examination.

The medical report stated that she had died of cardiac arrest and autopsy report said she was not sexually assaulted. The handwriting on the ‘death’ note has also been as hers.

The final report will help the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) conclude the investigation. They may present the facts before the medical board for their opinion if the toxicology report is not conclusive,” the source said.
