Honda Cars India is planning to open seven dealerships in AP and four in Telangana

Hyderabad: With the expected revival of the auto sector in the near future, Honda Cars India (HCIL) is looking to expand its network by increasing its manufacturing capacity and opening new dealerships across the country .

Speaking on the sidelines of inauguration of Honda’s 200th dealership at Boyempalli, Honda Cars India senior vice-president and director (marketing and sales) Shigeru Yamazaki said, “Currently, we are manufacturing 2,40,000 units from our plants, which we plan to increase to three lakh units per annum by March 2017.”

HCIL also plans to add 100 more dealerships in the next 16 months, totalling to 300 dealers in India. Ironically, it took 11 years to reach first 100 dealerships and touched the 200 mark in the next five years.

Among the new openings, Honda Cars India is planning to open seven dealerships in AP and four in Telangana focussing on Kurnool and Nizamabad. “We are also planning to extend our network in the tier-I and tier-II cities,” said.HCIL SVP (marketing and sales) Jnaneswar Sen.

With the increasing concerns of rider security, the government is expected to make some mandatory security provisions for car manufacturers in the new motor policy.
