Praveen Kumar’s gold chain unlikely to be recovered: Nagpur police

Uttar Pradesh cricketer’s asset went missing during the Vijay Hazare ODI match
Mumbai: Praveen Kumar's stolen gold chain is "unlikely" to be recovered, according to Nagpur police. "Highly unlikely", GK Rathod, the investigating police officer said exclusively over telephone from Nagpur on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old bowler lost his gold chain worth Rs 7.5 lakh from the dressing room during the Vijay Hazare ODI match against Rajasthan on Monday.
"No international matches are being staged on this ground now and hence there are no CCTV cameras installed, hence, it is extremely difficult to track the victim", the police officer added.
However, the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) president Prakash Dixit said there is CCTV in the pavilion.
"We have all the facilities at both the grounds, VCA Civil Lines stadium (old) and VCA Jamtha (New Stadium), and it is upto the police to investigate the matter,” said Dixit.
"Praveen Kumar said it was a lucky chain for him and he appreciated our efforts. Within two minutes of his complaint at our police station, we accompanied him to the ground,” added Dixit.
"We inquired with the ground staff and players of the Rajasthan team also. Praveen Kumar has almost lost his hope of recovering the chain. He told us not to interrogate his teammates as it would portray wrong signal. We shall still investigate the matter for few more days before the file is closed,” the police said.
