BJP has strangulated democracy, says Shiv Sena

Prithviraj Chavan called the trust vote as a “black day for Maharashtra’s democracy"
Mumbai: The trust vote that cleared the vote of confidence was passed by voice vote with the NCP remaining neutral.
Former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan called the passing of the trust vote through voice vote as a “black day for Maharashtra’s democracy” and Shiv Sena maintained that the government had “strangulated democracy”. But Speaker Haribhau Bagde refuted all the allegations saying that he acted as per the rules and the CM challenged anybody who had doubts to pass no-confidence motion again.
Immediately after his appointment as the new Speaker in the lower House, Mr Bagde decided to take up the trust motion before electing leader of Opposition. He allowed BJP to move the vote of confidence motion.
Sensing the strategy, Congress legislators joined the Shiv Sena leaders demanding for a poll. But the Speaker didn’t allow it. He then asked for a voice vote, to which the BJP responded. However, he skipped the part where he had to ask the Opposing for their voice vote against the motion.
