L&T boss-CM meet to resolve Hyderabad Metro issues
The government has been seeking the realignment of the Metro route
Hyderabad: A high-level meeting between Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and L&T chairman A.M. Naik is on the cards. The meeting is likely to resolve Hyderabad Metro Rail issues between the Telangana government and L&T.
Mr Naik is expected to visit the city soon to meet Mr Rao. The government has been seeking the realignment of the Metro route on certain stretches.
The MIM, which remained silent for long on the realignment issue, has come up with a fresh demand seeking realignment in the old city area to save religious places. All these issues are likely to be resolved in the meeting.
Highly-placed sources said the L&T MRHL has sought the CM’s appointment for a meeting with Mr Naik. However, the CMO is yet to confirm the appointment. Though the officials informed the CM about the L&T’s proposal for a meeting with the company’s chairman, Mr Rao told them that he will take a decision on whether to schedule the meeting prior to conclusion of ongoing Assembly session or later.
The Assembly session is expected to continue till November 22 and may be extended further based on the situation, as Opposition parties are demanding that the session lasts till November-end.
The Opposition parties have prepared strategies to corner the government over the Metro Rail issue in the House by taking up ‘leaked letter’ to the media in which L&T offered to quit from the project citing non-cooperation by the state government.
