‘Missing’ kids keep cops busy
Drunk father loses sight of kids’ autorickshaw
Hyderabad: Three missing kids kept the cops on their toes for hours. However, they were traced safely in a few hours. Police said their father who was allegedly drunk had hired an autorickshaw to take them to their relative’s house and followed them on a bike. He lost sight of the autorickshaw later.
The autorickshaw driver who realised that the children’s father was not to be seen became anxious and alerted the police. Sources said that Venkataramana, the father of the kids works as a driver for a Member of the Legislative Council and stays at Banjara Hills.
On Tuesday Venkataramana who was drunk hired an autorickshaw at Lakdi-ka-pul in Saifabad. He asked the driver to take the kids, Bhavana, Bhagya Laxmi, and Bhanu Prasad, aged between five and seven in his autorickshaw to his brother’s house in Upparpally.
He asked the autorickshaw driver to proceed and that he will follow the vehicle on his bike. He followed the autorickshaw for some distance and when they reached Mehdipatnam, Venkataramana lost sight of it.
When the autorickshaw driver reached Upparpally, he found that Venkataramana was missing. The anxious driver alerted the Rajendranagar police who alerted all police stations in the city. They kept the kids at the police station and took care of them.
On Wednesday morning they received a message that Venkataramana had approached the Banjara Hills police saying that his children were missing. The parents were called and the kids were handed over. No complaint was lodged and no case was registered.
