Aishwarya Rai Bachchan offered two major cop roles
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who is geared up for a comeback with Sanjay Gupta’s action-adventure thriller Jazbaa, is in a bit of a dilemma.
She has been offered strong author-backed roles as female protagonists in two cops films being directed by Prakash Jha and Sujoy Ghosh. Understandably, she can only choose one.
Says a reliable source, “Aishwarya has been approached for both Sujoy Ghosh’s Durga Rani Singh and Prakash Jha’s Ganga Jal 2. She cannot do both, as playing two cops at around the same time would look repetitive. No matter how dissimilar the two cops’ characters are, at the end of the day a heroine in khaki uniform would be a heroine in a khaki uniform.”
Apparently, Aishwarya finds both the roles very interesting but then life is about choices, right? Sujoy Ghosh’s project has been beleaguered by casting crises. Sujoy’s first choice for the role Vidya Balan opted out making way for Kangana Ranaut who for reasons best known to her backed out after advanced negotiations. Sujoy then went to Kareena Kapoor who didn’t want to play a mother to a growing daughter.
Aishwarya could step in to play Sujoy’s one-woman rescue team.
