Aurobindo Pharma all set to acquire US-based nutritional supplement maker
Hyderabad: City-based pharma major Aurobindo Pharma will shortly acquire troubled US-based nutritional supplement maker Natrol Inc for $132.5 million (Rs 810 crore) after it emerged as the highest bidder for the US company.
“Under the auction process, Aurobindo USA emerged as the highest and best bidder with a bid of $132.5 million to acquire the assets of Natrol with an agreement to take on certain liabilities,” Aurobindo Pharma said in a statement. The auction process will have to be approved by the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
With this, Aurobindo gets an entry into the US nutraceutical market, which is estimated to be of the size of $200 billion.
Aurobindo USA believes that Natrol is an excellent strategic fit and provides the right platform for creating a fully-integrated OTC platform in the US.
Natrol provides Aurobindo with a strong brand reputation and presence in a variety of attractive supplement markets.
