Valluvar biography must for schools: Tarun Vijay
BJP Parliamentarian said that biography should me made compulsory and read by all
Chennai: Uttarakhand MP Tarun Vijay who caught the nation’s attention in September last year by demanding Tamil be declared as the second official language of the country, has said that the Tamil savant Tiruvalluvar’s biography should be made compulsory in schools in other parts of India. The BJP Parliamentarian who was on a visit to the city on Tuesday said Valluvar’s biography should be made compulsory and read by all.
“I am against imposition of language by anybody, anywhere. For, it must come from your heart and people must learn Tamil but it is not a trade-off that I will speak for Tamil and I will ask you to learn other language or my language. So, do what is good for you,” he said when sought for his reaction on Hindi imposition.
The former editor of RSS mouthpiece Panchajanya also said that efforts would be made to ensure national status to the home of poet Subramanya Bharati in Varanasi.
“They are my people. They are Indian fishermen and if I don’t work for them, I am less of an Indian,” he shot back when asked if he would support the Tamil Nadu fishermen facing the noose in Lanka.
“We are committed and in fact Prime Minister has spoken to Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Indian high commissioners are taking efforts. We will see that our fishermen are brought back safe,” he added.
