Hyderabad High Court seeks YSRC MLA’s reply on abuse of power in 2 weeks

Hyderabad: A divisional bench comprising Chief Justice Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar, of the Hyderabad High Court, on Tuesday, granted two weeks to YSRCP MLA, Uppuleti Kalpana, to file her version of petition against her husband Devi Prasad, IT commissioner, for his alleged abuse of power in the Assembly elections.

The bench was dealing with a plea by Varla Ramaiah, TD leader, seeking to direct the authorities to take action against the official.

The counsel representing the Income Tax department submitted that the complaint against the official was referred to the Central Board of Direct Taxes, as the chief commissioner of the AP has no power to take action against Devi Prasad.

The CBDT has sought explanation from the official and he submitted his explanation. The counsel for the petitioner said that the court has already issued the notice to the Devi Prasad and his wife directing them to file the counter affidavits and the wife has not yet filed her version. The bench directed the MLA to file her version within two weeks.

Sujana asked to settle dispute
Justice A. Rajasekhar Reddy of the Hyderabad High Court has granted a week to the Sujana Universal Industries Ltd, owned by Union minister of state for science and technology Y. Satyanarayana Chowdary, to settle the dispute between Mauritius Commercial Bank Ltd of Mauritius and Sujana Industries.

The judge was dealing with company petition moved by the Mauritius Commercial Bank Ltd seeking to wind up the company as it failed to repay the loan of Rs 92 crore availed through its subsidiary M/s Heista Holdings Ltd. The Bank urged the court appoint a liquidator and restrain the management from selling its assets.

Petition against CBI ‘inaction’
T. Chinnapa Reddy, an industrialist of the city on Tuesday moved the High Court seeking to declare the action of the CBI in not initiating probe against K. Jana Reddy, leader of opposition in Telangana State Legislative Assembly.

The petitioner told the court that he had made a complaint before the CBI against alleged misappropriation of power and illegal gratification of Jana Reddy during his tenure.
