CM K Chandrasekhar Rao seeks time for free education

K. Laxman criticised the government for not doing enough on the education front

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday said free and compulsory education cannot be implemented overnight and hinted that it will take time.

He stated that he would hold a meeting with representatives from all parties and academicians to review the education system in the state.

Based on the results of the meeting, decisions would be taken by the government. BJP leader K. Laxman criticised the government for not doing enough on the education front.

Replying to Dr Laxman, Mr Rao stated even poor people are running to private schools. He stated, “Free compulsory education can’t be implemented overnight. It takes time.

There are decisions to be taken on whether we should start from Grade I or Grade V. We will hold a meeting with everyone. A total profile of education will be put forth and a total review will be carried out,” the CM said.

He also said another review of the Backward Classes Finance Corporation would also be carried out. “Why it was formed only God knows. Again one more all party meet will be organised on this and we will take a decision,” he said.

BJP leader Dr Laxman also asked the government why it was not participating in Central programmes like Swachch Bharat and Jan Dhan Yojana Centre.
