Carry ID cards if in Vijayawada by night

Police has increased night vigil to check night crimes

Vijayawada: The cops have asked citizens to always carry sufficient ID proof while venturing out at night. The Vijayawada police on Tuesday came up with certain restrictions for people who travel at night.

In view of recent early morning and late-night chain-snatching cases, the police has increased night vigil near Pundit Nehru Bus Stand, Vijayawada Railway Station and other important places where there is activity throughout the night. Special drives will also be conducted on roads.

In a press release, police commissioner A.B. Venkateswara Rao said that suspicious people roaming in the city would be picked up for questioning.

To avoid this, the police has asked people to carry sufficient identity proofs if they venture out at night between 11 pm and 6 am. Citizens have also been asked to carry vehicle records and driving licenses and to furnish the same to cops if asked.
