Bengaluru: An 18-year-old youth was arrested for allegedly eloping with a 16-year-old girl in Kumaraswamy Layout police station limits. The incident was reported on November 4 in Sarbandepalya.
The victim, a first year PU student and a resident of Sarbandepalya, was allegedly in love with the accused, identified as Rizwan, her neighbour. Rizwan ran a tyre puncture repair shop.
According to the police, the girl left for college on November 1, but failed to return home.
The parents later lodged a missing complaint with the police. Preliminary investigations revealed that the girl had eloped with Rizwan and nabbed the duo near Kumaraswamy Layout bus stand on November 4.
The police arrested Rizwan on the charges of kidnapping and also booked him under section 376 IPC and POCSO Act, 2012.
The accused was remanded to judicial custody. The Kumaraswamy Layout police had sent the victim and the accused for medical test and are awaiting reports.
