4-year-old girl raped by seniors in Kerala school
KOZHIKODE: A private English medium school at Parakadavu in Kerala, is in the eye of a storm over allegations that an LKG student aged four-and-a-half years was raped by two senior students on the school premises.
According to a complaint filed by the victim’s mother, the incident occurred at Sirajul Huda English medium school on September 30. The kid was allegedly waylaid by two high school students while she was going to the toilet. They dragged her to their hostel and raped her. The next day, the child fell sick and was taken to a hospital. As she did not recuperate, she was taken to Thalassery where a gynaecologist suspected sexual assault. On being questioned, the child disclosed the incident.
The victim’s mother also alleged that though the issue was brought to the notice of teachers, they tried to hush it up, police said. Meanwhile, the parents and locals stormed into the school on Tuesday morning alleging that the school management was protecting the culprits. The local units of DYFI and Yuva Morcha also organised a protest.
The school is run by Sirajul Huda Educational Complex, which has many educational and religious institutions and orphanages in the area. The educational complex is controlled by a faction of the Sunni sect. The school has residential facility where students who pursue religious course stay.
At a press conference, Abdul Rahman Saqafi representing the school management dismissed the incident as a conspiracy.
“Police should inquire whether the incident had occurred outside the school,” he demanded. He added that the school authorities would support a thorough probe into the issue.
A case has been registered under the relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
