Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday took on his critics, who had accused him of being passive during the power crisis, and lacking vision.
Mr Rao said the government was pursuing the power issue with the Centre on a daily basis, but the Narendra Modi government was “not replying for some reason”. He said Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu as Chief Minister of the undivided state had wasted money on projects that don’t yield power.
Speaking during the debate on the power crisis in the Assembly here, Mr Rao said, “The BJP is saying that the Telangana government is not pursuing the matter with the Centre. It is wrong. We are writing regularly to the Centre. We tried to speak to the Prime Minister also. Our Chief Secretary is also writing and talking to them every day. But there is no reply for some reason. I even tried to take an all-party delegation.”
Turning his ire on the AP government for criticising him, Mr Rao said: “Some person in AP government Parakala Prabhakar said Telangana government doesn’t know anything. We are not beggars. Our rightful share as per the Reorganisation Act should come to us.”
He alleged that Mr Naidu was threatening private power plant owners against supplying electricity to Telangana. “He influenced Krishna River Board and Union minister Uma Bharati also.”
