Revanth is traitor, says CM K Chandrasekhar Rao
Revanth Reddy supported AP in Telangana power crisis
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday criticised Telugu Desam leader A. Revanth Reddy for supporting AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Mr Rao called Mr Revanth Reddy a traitor and said it was a “black day” in the history of the state. Speaking in the debate on power crisis in the Legislative Assembly, Mr Revanth Reddy stated that consumption in Telangana was more than AP. Mr Revanth Reddy further stated that since June, the total consumption in the two states had been about 27,948 MU, out of which AP consumed 12,839 MU and Telangana 15,109 MU. “Clearly Telangana got 54 per cent share in the power.”
His argument, however, couldn’t stand. Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao countered: “Since June, we bought 4,889 MU of power for Rs 2,572 crore. Revanth’s figures are wrong. We couldn’t find his figures anywhere.”
Mr Rao called Mr Revanth Reddy a traitor to his motherland for supporting Mr Naidu. “This is a black day in our history where a member of the Assembly is standing and supporting another state. Revanth Reddy is justifying the harm that the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister is causing to our state. He is against his own land,” he said.
Minister T. Harish Rao also criticised Mr Revanth Reddy saying, “These people are advocates for other states. When the Kaveri River issue came up in Tamil Nadu, people from all parties and walks of life came together to stand united. But it is unfortunate that it is not happening in our state.”
