Maharashtra Governor promises to ease Godavari tussle between Maharashtra and Telangana

TRS government will achieve the ‘Golden Telangana’ as promised

Hyderabad: Maharashtra Governor Vidyasagar Rao, who was a senior BJP leader hailing from Karimnagar district, on Sunday promised the Telangana government that he would use his good offices in resolving the existing disputes between Maharashtra and Telangana on utilisation of Godavari waters.

Mr Rao showered praises on Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for felicitating him.

Expressing confidence that sooner or later the TRS government will achieve the ‘Golden Telangana’ as promised.

Mr Vidyasagar Rao said, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao has good vision and better understanding on Telangana than anyone and he is really working hard to set things in right direction.

He also suggested starting small barrages across River Godavari that will benefit more the Telangana state and hoped the government would take steps in tapping more water to several villages in the state.

The Maharashtra Governor assured that he will talk to the new Chief Minister and see that hurdles are removed for taking up Pranahita-Chevella major lift irrigation scheme by Telangana.

Mr Chandrasekhar Rao, who organised a lunch and felicitation for the Maharashtra Governor, equally showered praises on Mr Vidyasagar Rao for his participation in the Telangana movement.

Though Mr Chandrasekhar Rao had defeated Mr Vidyasagar Rao, who was a BJP candidate from Karimnagar Lok Sabha elections earlier, ignoring the political rivalry between them, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao said he share cordial relations with the Maharashtra Governor.

State Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan also attended the function along with several state ministers and presiding officers of Telangana Legislature. However majority of the BJP leaders were not there as they all went to Delhi to witness Bandaru Dattatreya’s swearing-in-ceremony.
