IIT-JEE aspirants hit by glitch in Telangana State

Students unable to download paper of choice
Hyderabad: Telangana aspirants to reputed institutions like Indian Institutes of Technology and National Institutes of Technology faced a piquant situation as they could not register for the examinations to be held in April next year.
The Central Board of Secondary Education started the online application for JEE Mains exam from Friday but aspirants who wanted to write the online version of the exam in centres in Telangana state were unable to complete the application process. On the other hand, those who wanted to attempt the online exam in centres in Andhra Pradesh and other states could complete the application process.
It was baffling that an apparent technical glitch prevented candidates from selecting their question paper medium when they selected a centre in Telangana. When the centre is changed to one located in Andhra Pradesh or any other state, the drop down menu in the question paper medium becomes available facilitating the completion of the application process. The same problem, however, didn’t arise when applications were made for
the paper based examination.
CBSE allows for both online and paper based JEE Mains examinations though the paper based exam is limited to a few cities and towns only. Qualification in the JEE Mains allows candidates to appear for the JEE Advanced through which students are admitted to IITs.
The offline JEE Mains is scheduled to be held on April 4 next year while the online version will be held on April 10 and 11. In Telangana, the paper based exam will be held in Hyderabad, Khammam and Warangal, while the online exam can be attempted in other towns like Adilabad, Mahbubnagar and Karimnagar.
