CM N Chandrababu Naidu spreading false propaganda, says KCR
Palamuru lift irrigation scheme announced by KCR
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao accused some political parties of spreading false propaganda against the Telangana government and warned them to be cautious in the future.
“I don’t tell lies. I do what I say. There are problems in the new state of Telangana. We are trying to overcome it and fulfil the promises made during elections and in the manifesto. But some parties are trying to do create mischief and slander this government on va-rious issues,” he alleged.
Launching the TRS government’s ‘Aasra’ pension for the aged, widows and physically challenged at Kothur near Shadnagar in Mahbubnagar district, Mr Rao alleged that AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu did not give even a single rupee to the farmers yet spreading false propaganda against Telangana.
The scheme was launched in all districts by ministers along with MPs, legislators and party leaders. Denying that his government weeded out pensioners and ration card holders in Telangana, he hit back saying the previous governments talked more and did little.
Mr Rao announced the laying of foundation stone for the much awaited prestigious Palamuru lift irrigation scheme in 10/15 days time which will provide water for irrigation purposes to wa-ter starved Mahbub-nagar, Ranga Reddy districts and drinking water to Hyderabad city.
He also said new ration cards will be issued to all eligible persons soon, relay 5,000 km of panchayat roads in three-four months time and 1,800 km of R & B roads in Mahbubnagar besides strengthening of 20,000 km of kutcha roads in the state at a cost of Rs 600 crore.
“We will spend Rs 4,000 crore towards pensions. Previous Telugu Desam government gave only Rs 75 as pension and earmarked Rs 65 crore annually in the Budget. Similarly, Congress gave Rs 200 pension and earmarked about Rs 1,000 crore,” he said.
Mr Rao added, “We enhanced pension amount to ensure every pensioner gets two square meals a day. The aged and widows will get Rs 1,000 per month pension and handicapped Rs 1,500.”
Taking a dig at previous government, he said in the past even a 30-year- old got old age pension and siphoned away funds. This government would not allow this to happen. If a genuine person is denied pension or ration card, he or she can approach the tahsildar and the government would order an inquiry through RDO to ensure they get into the scheme.
Referring to the power crisis, he said the government was doing its best to overcome power shortage, but it will certainly take another two three years and sought co-operation of farmers.
“After two years, farmers will get nine hours of power supply and in three years there will 24 hour power supply. We will also ensure drinking water to every household through water grid,” he added.
TRS Mahbubnagar MP A. Jitender Reddy, Chevella MP Vishweswar Reddy, MLAs Laxma Reddy, Anjaiah Yadav, Srinivas Goud and others attended.
