BJP woos Congress veterans
SRINAGAR: BJP is reportedly trying to woo a senior Congress leader from Jammu and Kashmir who has served as a minister in different governments at the Centre to its fold.
Sources privy to the development said that senior BJP leaders have had a series of meetings with this Congress leader and his politician son in Delhi and Jammu during past couple of weeks to persuade them to join their party.
The sources said the father-son duo having royal ancestry has shown its inclination towards BJP’s agenda on Jammu and Kashmir but placed certain conditions for joining the party.
The BJP, sources said, believes that their joining the party wo-uld help towards bringing to fruition its +44 mission to form a government of its own in Jammu and Kashmir which is scheduled to go to polls from November 25.
Meanwhile, the BJP is reported to have already achieved a breakthrough in its effort to encourage Peoples’ Conference faction leader Sajjad Lone to side with it.
