KPCC for younger neta, G Parameshwar to finally come home
BENGALURU: Some major changes are on the cards in the ruling Congress with speculation high that KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar is set to join the cabinet and make way for a younger successor.
Sources in Congress told Deccan Chronicle that central leaders of the party reportedly told Chief Minister Siddaramaiah that he should reshuffle his ministry as an impression was gaining ground that the government had not taken off though the party was voted to power almost a year-and-a-half ago.
The upshot: as part of the image makeover, either agriculture minister Krishna Byre Gowda or food and civil supplies minister Dinesh Gundurao could take over the reins of the state unit though former chairman of the Legislative Council B.L. Shankar was the choice of Mr Siddaramaiah.
Both Mr Gowda and Mr Gundurao have served as president of the state unit of Youth Congress, but the former ‘s proximity to vice president Rahul Gandhi could help him make the cut.
Sources said in the event, such changes do come through, Dr Parameshwar could be given the key portfolio of home or public works along with Bengaluru development with Mr K.J. George set to head an important ministry like major industries.
And, public works minister Dr H C Mahadevappa, a lieutenant of Mr Siddaramaiah could be allocated the portfolio of home in case Dr. Parameshwar takes over as the new minister for public works.
