Defected MLCs try to target Chandrababu Naidu’s family

Kerala had banned Heritage Foods last year after formalin was found in its milk samples

Hyderabad: Congress MLCs, who recently defected to the TRS, trained their guns at Naidu’s family-run Heritage Foods for allegedly using Oxytocin injections to stimulate milk production in cows. Telangana state Deputy Chief Minister T. Rajaiah said that Kerala has already banned Heritage Foods and no complaint has so far been received in Telangana state. In a move planned in advance to provoke and embarrass the Telugu Desam leadership, a question on synthetic milk had been listed in the Question Hour in the Legislative Council. Asked about synthetic milk production in the state, Dr Rajaiah denied that synthetic milk was being sold in the state but stated that 1328 vials of Oxytocin injections were seized. MLC Kompally Yadava Reddy said, “Investigation by authorities in Kerala led to the ban of Heritage Foods. They had issued a GO also. Many private companies have now sprung up but is there a mechanism to check them.”

TRS MLC Karne Prabhakar said companies were even adding caustic soda in milk. “Private diaries were encouraged in the past by previous governments. The government should tell us how they are controlling these private diaries.”

Kerala had banned Heritage Foods last year after formalin was found in its milk samples. Formalin is used to preserve the freshness of milk for a long period.

Chandrababu Naidu’s family members are on the board of directors of Heritage Foods. Replying on the issue, Dr Rajaiah said, “Kerala took action and banned Heritage Foods. But we have not got any official complaint so far. We will form technical committees and pick random samples for checks.”
