Army officer, 3 soldiers swept away by avalanche near LoC
‘Army teams have been rushed to the area for rescue operations’
Srinagar: An Army officer and 3 jawans along with a civilian porter were swept away by a huge avalanche along the Nasta Chun pass in Jammu and Kashmir’s frontier district of Kupwara.
Nasta Chun pass also known as ‘Sadhna Gali’ (the Shams Bari mountain range) is situated at a height of 10,000 feet above the sea level.
Army teams have been rushed to the area for rescue operations, official said on Saturday.
Defence spokesperson confirmed the incident and said that the incident took place at 8 am on Saturday.
“An Army link patrol, operating in the areas South of Nasta Chun pass were overrun by an avalanche, triggered from the higher reaches of Shams Bari Ranges. Search was in progress till receipt of the last information,” he said.
