Agri Gold cpmpany's cheques bounce, investors edgy
Vijayawada: Tension prevailed at the office of Agri Gold Group on MG Road for over two hours on Friday after some of its customers and agents from AP and Karnataka gathered in a large number, expressing concern over the cheques issued by the firm bouncing and non-payment of interests. Agents who collect deposits for the group’s Agri Gold Farm Estates Pvt Ltd from customers across AP and Karnataka alleged that over 200 cheques given by the company have bounced and they were being forced to make several trips to the office in the past three months.
D. Rajasekhar, a customer from Vizag who invested Rs 25 lakh with the firm, said that he is not getting any interest since the last six months and the company representatives were not responding properly.
“There is no person who can resolve my problem,” he said.
M. Siva of Guntur, who deposited Rs 40,000, complained that he was forced to visit the office as there was no proper response from the company’s representative.
Meanwhile, a group of agents told customers and other agents that their money would not be returned if they continued to protest.
The group also attacked media persons who had gathered to cover the issue and raised go back slogans.
S-I Guna Ram said that the customers and agents gathered following complaints like cheque bounce and non-payment of interest.
The protesters later dispersed after the firm’s representatives spoke to them.
