Sexual harassment: Infosys to probe charges

The board had not taken action and is hushing up the whole case

Bengaluru: A day after several women employees of IT major Infosys alleged sexual harassment by a senior executive, the firm stated that swift and appropriate action will be taken in all such cases.

On Friday, the company, in a statement said, “Infosys prides itself in the diversity of its workforce and equal opportunity work environment for its employees. We take every sexual harassment complaint very seriously and each case is thoroughly and expeditiously investigated.”

It further said, “Swift and appropriate actions are taken in all such cases. Keeping in view the privacy aspects we do not share particulars of individual cases.”

The company’s statement comes in the wake of the allegations made by a group of women employees, who circulated mails to various media houses.

In their anonymous mail, they said, “We are a group of women employees working in the secretarial and compliance team at Infosys. We had filed a sexual harassment complaint against a senior executive to the board.

Even though the charges were serious, the board had not taken action and is hushing up the whole case. Most of the people in our group somehow knew about this issue.

We are not able to forward the complaint as the company monitors all the incoming and outgoing mails. We request you to take up this issue and get us justice.”
