Nokia to rebound with new flagship smartphone

Rebranding of Nokia Lumia as Microsoft Lumia won’t be a game changer for Nokia

The rebranding of Nokia Lumia as Microsoft Lumia set out rumours that Nokia may no more involve itself in the smartphone market. On getting to know about the widespread rumour of Nokia shutting down, the company put out a post on its official Facebook page stating, Nokia brand still very much alive.

Barry French, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Nokia stated, ‘We have sold our mobile phone business to Microsoft. But the Nokia of today is financially robust and has moved from weakness to strength. We have one of the world’s best telecom infrastructure businesses, a global leader in the mapping and location business, a stellar intellectual property portfolio and some of the finest innovation capabilities of any company anywhere.’

Nokia started almost 150 years ago with just one paper mill and it plans to continue with its brand name.

Meanwhile, media reports also state that Nokia will reveal its upcoming plans on November 17. One of the plans could be introducing its new flagship handset, to enter the smartphone market under the Nokia brandname brand name. It has been speculated that its N9 team is currently working on unveiling its new flagship smartphone soon.
