TDP members suspended for ruckus in Telangana Assembly
Hyderabad: Ten members of Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP), including its floor leader, were handed one-day suspension from Telangana Assembly today after they sought to stall the listed proceedings insisting immediate debate on the issue of farmer suicides.
The House was adjourned twice earlier in the day as the members continued to press for their demand and trooped into the Well.
Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao moved a resolution for their suspension amid pandemonium, after which the Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary announced the action against the MLAs, including TDP floor leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao.
The TRS Government contended that it's ready to discuss all issues but wanted the House to function as per the day's agenda finalised by Business Advisory Committee.
"We are ready for discussions and debate on all issues," Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao asserted.
Telangana, which came into existence on June 2, is currently having its first budget session. Opposition parties have alleged that over 250 farmers have committed suicide in the last four months due to water and power shortage in the State.
