Committee rejected the Rs 500 crore proposal to change around 3.40 lakh streetlights
Hyderabad: The GHMC will charge a nominal fee (yet undecided) to keep a tab on the number of households in Telangana. With this exemption the corporation revenue may reduce by Rs 100-200
crore, but it will directly benefit 10.14 lakh households, especially the middle and lower classes. The resolution will be passed in the general body meeting scheduled to on November 15 and it will then be sent to the government for approval.
The total assessed households under GHMC limits are 30.20 lakh and the revenue (tax collection) of the corporation has increased from Rs 300 crore to Rs 1,000 crore. This term, the corporation is expecting the revenue to touch Rs 1,500 crore.
Meanwhile the much-hyped LED street lights proposal of the GHMC was dropped in the GHMC standing committee meeting on Thursday. The committee rejected the Rs 500 crore worth proposal which mooted to change around 3.40 lakh streetlights.
The GHMC has also decided to construct night shelters for patients and their attendants at ENT Hospital- Koti, Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences, Osmania General Hospital, Niloufer Hospital, Maternity Hospital-Koti and Peltaburz, Gandhi Hospital .
