Telangana would declare a public holiday on Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary from 2015
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao announced that the state government would declare a public holiday on Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary from 2015. The Chief Minister also announced extending government schemes to the economically poor Sikhs living in the state.
Participating in the 545th Prakash Utsav (birth anniversary celebrations) of Guru Nanak at Exhibition Grounds at Nampally on Thursday, Mr Rao said that financial assistance of Rs 51k on the lines of Kalyana Lakshmi scheme would be extended to the economically backward Sikh brides at the time of their wedding.
