Authorities zero in on Maheshwaram mandal to set up new industries
Hyderabad: Maheshwaram Mandal of Ranga Reddy district in the city outskirts is being looked up as the ideal space for upcoming industrial establishments. Of the total 2.5-3 lakh acres of government land bank available within Telangana, those around the Greater Hyderabad limits are being eyed by the industrialists.
Ranga Reddy district administration has identified about 989 acres of public land that is suitable for industries and presented it to the Telangana government that is likely to come up with its much awaited industrial policy.
“The survey has been completed and over 989 acres of vacant land suitable land for setting up industries have been identified and the details have been given to the government,” said an official with RR District collectorate administration.
The land identified in Maheshwaram mandal is as follows: In Raviryala survey no. 1/1 313 acres are identified, in survey no. 306 a land tract of 356 acres, in Srinagar survey no. 114 over 77 acres, summing all of it to 746 acres.

Some of identified land includes ones which were taken back from certain institutions that failed to utilise it in the stipulated time. Meanwhile, the villagers with land parcels see good prospects with demand going up in the region.
O. Kiran Babu, general manager with a private construction company says, “The land price here has more than doubled in the last five years. The land which used to cost around Rs 1,800-2,000 has a current market value of anywhere between Rs 3,000- 6,000 per square yard.”
Meanwhile, the proposed extended urban centres in the HMDA masterplan that includes- Science Park, Electronic City and ITIR regions, are earmarked in Maheshwaram Mandal region. The Telangana government aims to give a fillip to the plans which the previous government did not implement. An e-city has been proposed on 313 acres in Maheshwaram and another e-city in Ravirial on 600 acres.
A higher official of the Telangana State Industrial Infrastru-cture Corporation said, “For the proposed electronic city in Mahesh-waram, already 60 different companies have applied for essential land. Though the tentative approvals have been cleared by the Government of India, the final approval from EMC is awaited.”
Officials said, “Basic infrastructure including internal roads, water pipelines in the area has already been set up. While installation of electrical lines are underway.”
Infrastructure for clusters of electronic companies including- incubation centres, testing labs and other facilities to be commonly used by the e-companies will be taken up once the final approval from the Centre is received. “Depending on the viability the Central government will grant 35 to 70 per cent of the total expenditure,” said officials of TSIIC.
It is mainly because of the existing infrastructure including the Outer Ring road (ORR), proximity to Shamshabad airport. Maheshwaram lies between the Hyderabad-Bangalore, Hyderabad-Nagarjunasagar and Hyderabad-Srisailam national highways.
