Couple killed, robbed
Hyderabad: In a grave incident robbers killed an old couple and fled with cash and ornaments worth lakhs from their house on Thursday. The incident occurred in the Sai Harsha gated community at Hydershakote in Narsingi.
The victims were identified as V. Simhadri, 65, a retired employee of the Government Printing Press at Chanchalguda and his wife Sulochana, 60, a retired teacher of a government school at Moinabad.
Sources said that on Thursday evening a group of unidentified persons came to the gated community in an autorickshaw. Though they were stopped at the entrance by security personnel they said that they had come to meet relatives.
The gang knocked on the door of the couple and the moment it was opened overpowered them.
The gang reportedly demanded valuables and threatened to kill them if they didn’t hand them over. Later, the gang which was armed with weapons attacked the old couple and fled with the cash and ornaments in the house.
The victims sustained grave injuries on the head and other parts of the body and died on the spot.
Sources said the incident came to light when neighbours noticed it and alerted the police. The CLUES team and dog squad were pressed into action. Senior police officials also reached the spot.
A case was registered. Cops suspect that it was a murder for gain. The value of the stolen property is yet to be ascertained. A search has been launched to track down the killers. The bodies were shifted to hospital for postmortem.
