Despite wide-spread public outcry, cases of sexual assaults, especially against minors, continue unabated. The latest incident of rape was reported in Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s home town on Thursday.
A 9-year-old girl was brutally raped by two boys in Hanumantha Nagar of Narasimharaja police station limits. Police have identified the two accused as Firoz (17), a plywood worker and Asif (16), an SSLC student.
DCP K.N. Rajanna told Deccan Chronicle that the incident happened on Monday and the case has been filed on Thursday by victim’s aunt. The girl was an orphan and adopted by Saleem, a vegetable vendor. He used to leave the girl at Firoz’s residence, who is their neighbour.
On Monday, as usual Saleem left the girl in Firoz’s house and the accused along with his friend Asif sexually assaulted the girl. The news of the assault went public after the girl narrated the incident to her foster father.
On Thursday morning, the two accused were caught and beaten-up and later handed over to police. The police have booked them under POSCO Act and other relevant section of IPC.
