‘No off beat films now’
Sundeep Kishan says his focus is on commercial films in the South
Hyderabad: Sundeep Kishan is all excited about his latest release Joru, which is his first attempt at slapstick comedy. “It’s a simple story but with lot of twists and lots of comedy. My prime agenda is to give some entertainment, hence the choice of a hilarious story,” says Sundeep Kishan.
This is the first time he has shared screen space with ace comedian Brahmanandam. “We share a good rapport on and off screen. He dished out jokes on me even off the sets. I had a great time with Brahmanandam. Comedian Saptagiri also features in this film and I have worked with him earlier,” he says.
Sundeep romances three female leads, Rashi Khanna, Priya Banerjee and Sushma, in the film. “All of them have the same name Annapurna and it is these three actresses who actually drive the film. It is a comedy filled with a lot of situations caused by confusion,” he says.
Sundeep has worked earlier with the same director Kumar Nagendra for Gundello Godari. “Though the film was acclaimed critically, we noticed that there was not much entertainment in it. So the director was keen to make an entertainer with me.
With that in mind he started to write this story,” says Sundeep. The actor says that the audience feels happy when they watch his films. “I always give my 100 per cent for every film. And my producers have no complaints. Now, I want the distributors to also feel happy when they make my film. It’s my film and I take full responsibility. I work towards its success and hope for the best,” he says.
Sundeep does not want to do off-beat films for now. “I have already done a few films like Prasthanam and Gundello Godari. Now, I am concentrating on good story-oriented films with a commercial formula,” he says.
About Tamil films he says, “Tamil films dubbed into Telugu are easy, but dubbing Telugu films into Tamil is not an easy task. Next year I will work in a Tamil film,” adding that talks are on for Hindi films too and if all goes well he may do a Hindi film as well next year. “I can’t reveal the details now. I will probably do only off-beat Hindi films like Shor in the City. Details will be shared next year,” he promises.
