ISL: Kerala Blasters all set for home debut

Kerala side will be facing FC Goa in their first home game
Kochi: Coming home is always comforting. Kerala Blasters should feel a lot better ahead of their home debut in the Indian Super League after five unsettling away matches that has sent them down to seventh among the eight franchisees.Their rivals for Thursday’s sixth round match at Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium here are FC Goa, managed by Brazilian great Zico, rooted to the bottom of the ISL points table.
However, the two sides that are so similar in terms of points (four apiece) accrued from five outings and by virtue of their expansive style of football — but disappointing results — face off under dissimilar circumstances. The visitors have gathered momentum after a 2-1 victory over Delhi Dynamos while a lackluster 0-1 defeat to Mumbai City FC in round five has pushed the Blasters on to the back foot.
Former England international and goalkeeper-manager David James has used 20 players in his starting XIs in the last five matches but is yet to find the right combination to light up their abysmal campaign. Goa appear to hold a slender edge in attack as the Bulls have only failed to net once in five matches, a 0-2 away to Pune being the odd occasion. For the Blasters, Canadian winger Iain Hume is a key figure. Michael Chopra will again miss out with a hamstring injury.
