Efforts on to set up Tribal varsity in East Godavari: AP Finance Minister
Rajahmundry: Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Y Ramakrishnudu said that government is making all efforts to set up a Tribal University at Ramachodavaram in East Godavari district.
Efforts are on to establish tribal university here (in Rampachodavaram) in the district and it will be soon developed, the minister said during a programme held at Rampachodavaram in East Godavari on Wednesday.
Ramakrishnudu on the occasion directed district collector Neetu Prasad to appoint staff in the newly merged four mandals from Khammam district into East Godavari on a temporary basis.
He further said that Rs 1,500 crore was allotted for tribal welfare and preference would be given to construct road, developing the agency areas and said that there was no dearth of funds (for tribal welfare).
On issuing caste certificates to tribals, he said that efforts would be made to issue permanent certificate through Revenue Secretary. Deputy Chief Minister, N Chinarajappa on the occasion said that the various vacancies would be made available in agency areas soon.
"To raise the income level of people in the tribal areas, horticulture was encouraged through rural employment scheme. Directions have been issued to set up RO plants for drinking water under NTR Sujala scheme," he said.
Integrated Tribal Development Agency Project Officer G Chandrudu said that 64 villages were added to Rampachodavrom agency by merging four mandals from khammam district.
